You can apply to enter and stay in the UK under this visa to carry out work experience, training, research or a fellowship through an approved government authorised exchange scheme.
You must have an offer of work with an organisation which is licenced to sponsor workers from overseas. To prove this, the organisation must provide you with a certificate of sponsorship. Any work experience, research or training you are taking part in must relate to the work of the organisation which issues the certificate.
The visa will grant you permission to remain in the UK for either 12 or 24 months, depending on work, research or training you are involved in.
While living in the UK under this visa you can study certain courses, as well as work a secondary job in the same sector and at the same level as the job stated on your certificate of sponsorship. You can also work for up to 20 hours a week in the occupations listed on the Home Office Tier 2 Shortage Occupations List. You can also bring family members to the UK with you.
You will not be able to take up a permanent job, or to access public funds (benefits).
